About Us
Hello,
we, the Student Council of Mathematics (FSR Mathe for short), are here to help you with any questions you may have about your studies. We are mathematics students who are committed to representing the interests of students in our department. This means not only advocating for you within the department and the university, but also representing you as the student body of mathematics in various committees, such as examination boards, faculty councils, quality circles, and job commissions. So if you need assistance in this regard, feel free to reach out to us!
You can find our contact information under 'Contact.' We are a very dedicated student council and strive to respond to inquiries as quickly as possible. However, since we are doing this on a voluntary basis, please bear with us if we take a little longer to respond over the weekend or during exam periods. A good tip is to come by our office in person for urgent issues.
Our student council room is T30, and the surrounding study rooms are usually open (the study rooms are accessible even when we are not there) and serve as a meeting place for exchanging ideas, studying, and playing games among all mathematics students. For directions, see the 'Contact' section.
In addition to competitive games of Double Head and Tichu, you'll also find an oven in our student council room (for example, for frozen items from the freezer), as well as some drinks, sweets, and ice cream available at cost price. If you want to relax for a bit or unwind with a cold drink after an exhausting exercise sheet with your group, feel free to drop by.
We also have a small presence library where you can borrow books for studying in the TG rooms (unfortunately, we can't lend them out, but you can find options for that in the mathematics library on the ground floor), and we provide access to examination protocols that are shared with us by students. Our golden rule is: If you read a protocol, please write one as well. This way, we can ensure that future students receive the same service you do by maintaining an up-to-date collection of protocols.
If this offer isn’t enough for you: We also organize several game nights each semester, as well as a summer festival and a Christmas gathering, along with many other events. We announce the dates for these in advance via our newsletter and on the notice board in the foyer.
By the way, the FSR is an officially elected body that has part of the semester fee budget available through the AStA. Elections are held once a semester, and all students in the department are eligible to vote. Would you like to be part of the team that advocates for good study conditions? Our meetings, which are mainly public, during the lecture period take place in room T30 on Mondays at 6 PM. So come by and say hey!
Where to find us?
The FSR is located in the middle section of the TG (Technology Floor "Geschoss" in german), with its main room in T30. The TG is situated between the ground floor and the first floor of Bundesstraße 55 and is not accessible via the regular elevators, making it somewhat difficult to find. If you require assistance regarding limited accessibility, please get in touch with us, and we will find a solution.
